By creating an account or using Cothyra (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1. Who provides the Service
Cothyra is operated by the named individual or entity behind it. Payments are processed by our merchant of record (currently Paddle.com), who is the seller of record on your invoice. Their terms and refund handling apply alongside ours.
2. Accounts
You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. One account per person β sharing logins is not allowed and may result in suspension.
3. What Cothyra does
The Service lets you read and edit text content, organize it as books, and ask an AI assistant for help with that content. AI calls run on third-party model providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, others) and are subject to their availability and policies.
4. Credits and payment
- The Service is sold on a pay-as-you-go credit basis. You buy a credit pack; AI calls deduct from it based on token usage at vendor cost plus a small markup.
- Prices are shown in USD on the pricing page and at checkout. Local taxes may be added by our merchant of record.
- Credits don't expire as long as your account is active.
- Refunds: see our Refund Policy.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Generate content that violates the law where you live or where the Service is operated;
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or stress-test the Service in ways that affect others' use;
- Resell access, share your account, or expose AI capabilities to a third party without written permission;
- Generate content that infringes intellectual property, contains personal data of others without consent, or constitutes harassment, hate, sexual content involving minors, or instructions for illegal activity.
Violations may result in suspension and forfeit of remaining credits. We may report serious abuse to the relevant authorities.
6. Your content
You own what you write. Granting us a license to store and process it (so the AI can act on your text and so we can serve it back to you) is implied by use; we don't claim ownership and don't use your content to train shared models.
7. AI output disclaimer
AI assistants make mistakes. Output may be inaccurate, biased, or unsuitable for professional use without human review. Don't rely on AI output for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions. Verify before trusting.
8. Service availability
We aim for the Service to be available, but we don't guarantee uptime. Underlying AI providers occasionally fail or rate-limit; the Service reflects those outages. Failed AI calls are not charged when no tokens were consumed; partial token usage is charged based on what was actually consumed.
9. Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. On termination you can request a refund of unused credits per the Refund Policy.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced on the landing page or via email. Continued use after the change date counts as acceptance.
